IC Info

Name: Impmon/Beelzemon
Canon: Digimon Tamers
Age: Well, Digimon seem to more go by mental ages then physical ones since data doesn't really age, so the most that can be said is that he's definitely an adult over the age of eighteen, though not a terribly mature one.
Appearance: Impmon, Beelzemon, Beelzemon Blast Mode
Canon Point: Episode 46 just after the D-Reaper incapacitates him.
Background: Wiki link!

Personality: Impmon starts off the series as a selfish, willful Digimon who wants power at all costs. He's fiercely independent, disdaining the idea of needing a human Tamer to become stronger and Digivolve. It's shown this is because his Tamers were a pair of twins about four years old who treated him more like a possession and something to be fought over then a being that had actual feelings and desires. This fuels the crux of Impmon's personality: he absorbed his Tamers' self-centered attitude, feeling that mocking people, keeping them at arm's length, and building up his own ego was the way to get what he wanted. When all else failed, he tended (and still occasionally does) throw temper tantrums. Not so dangerous as a three foot tall demonic Mickey Mouse, but much more so as a nine foot tall biker demon monster from Hell.

Initially, he's viewed as little more then a joke by those around him, and in a deconstruction of these usual types of joke villainous characters, it shows how being seen as just a weakling and laughed at took a toll on his psyche to the point where he was willing to do anything for power. He accepts a deal that gives him power to become Beelzemon at the cost of turning on his former friends. He goes drunk with power, unhinged and insane, willing to kill Digimon and innocent children alike. He feels no remorse killing the partner Digimon of a young girl named Jeri, merely stating that power is everything. This is Beelzemon at his worst: crazy, psychopathic, and remorseless. The one good trait that can be said for him during all this is his strong will. It allows him to tame a motorcycle named Behemoth that otherwise possesses those who ride it. He's so strong-willed it takes a fight that last for over three episodes with just about every Digimon the Tamers had at the time being thrown at him to finally defeat him.

All this changes when he's defeated. That same girl whose partner he killed speaks up to spare his life. Stunned to his core, he falls into a depression as his ego and sense of self-worth alike both shatter into pieces. He declares himself to be nothing and allows the power of Beelzemon to be stripped away from him, turning him back into Impmon. But when the real world is invaded by a being that threatens to destroy both worlds and he finds out Jeri is being held hostage, he finally shows the noblest side of his personality. His Tamers make up with him and he finally understand he can mature emotionally too, learning to care about others and how doing good can also feel good. Realizing that his power can be used to help, he accesses his Beelzemon form once again. He becomes obsessed with rescuing Jeri, often to the point of self-destruction. He seems not to care about his own possible death. All that matters is atoning for his past actions to his friends and his strength of determination finally comes in handy for the good guys. He sees Jeri as his last chance for a redemptive act, something to prove that he is in fact a good person and not the worthless psychopath he was before.

Weaknesses/Temptations: On the whole, a big weakness that he shares with all Digimon is the fact that they have a natural instinct for violence and fighting. The world they come from is kill or be killed, survival of the fittest as they absorb the data of those defeated in order to become stronger and Digivolve into bigger, better, and stronger forms. Even Digimon that are otherwise shown to have passive or downright goofy personalities will change when it's time to fight, ignoring anyone who tells them to stop, and going in for the kill. As Beelzemon, a Mega-level that is the highest a Digimon can go, this instinct seems to be turned up to such a degree that he sometimes can become merciless and psychopathic in battle.

One of Impmon's biggest personal weaknesses is that he's got a terrible temper on him. While this can be a good thing when fighting to protect someone, it's very bad when a being with such great power gets riled up. He can turn vicious and cruel with very little effort, going all the way to becoming sadistic as he toys with his opponents. Many of the Digimon he kills are done so in a manner more brutal and terrible then was necessary, such as stabbing an opponent through the stomach or shattering another's head.

He can also be terribly selfish and self-centered. It takes a lot for him to realize that other people besides himself matter and it's still a lesson he's learning. If faced between having to save a stranger or himself, it's likely he would choose his own skin first unless he had a pang of conscience at the last moment.

Lastly, he doesn't really have a whole lot of self-worth. He doesn't believe himself to all that important after all the wickedness he'd done. He sees the acts he did as unforgivable and doesn't believe he will ever fully atone for all of them. It would be easy for him to fall into depression, despair, and having a death wish again.

Sins: - Murderer. He's murdered a lot of Digimon during his time.
- Power mad. Impmon was willing to do anything for power, even agree to kill innocent children.
- Selfish. Impmon has spent most of his life looking out for only himself.
- Gluttony. He has a hunger to destroy and become more powerful no matter what it takes.
- Lust. He lusted after the idea of becoming a strong Digimon until he was willing to do anything for that power.
- Wrath. His anger tends to drive him in a lot of situations, leading to rages and fury that cause a lot of mayhem.
- Pride. His arrogance as Beelzemon led him to believe he was nearly invincible.
- Envy. He was green-eyed with envy at seeing other Digimon with their partners, wishing he had a bond like that with his own and jealous of their ability to digivolve.
- Greed. As Beelzemon, his first and foremost thought was to defeat as many opponents as possible, greedily killing them so that he could become as powerful as he could.

Powers/Abilities: (As the wiki link has pretty thorough descriptions of his varied abilities, I'm just going to give a summary, and touch on a few points that the wiki glosses over.) Impmon on his own doesn't have a terrible ton of abilities, as he's a Rookie-level Digimon. His attacks consist of fireballs, the most powerful of which doesn't have much energy to do more then burn a hole through a briefcase.

Unfortunately, his Mega-form of Beelzemon is extremely powerful just on his own. He has a shotgun attack and one where he rakes his claws along his opponents, either of which can decimate weaker Digimon, to say nothing of human beings or things like tanks or helicopters. He has an alternate form of Beelzemon Blast Mode in which, in addition that abilities already present in his usual form, he gains wings that allow him to fly and a gun that's more like a cannon on his right arm, a present that came in the form of a toy gun from his Tamers that he transformed using data into something much more powerful.

Beelzemon as a species, being Demon Lord Digimon associated with Gluttony, also have a unique ability that's not fully discussed on the wiki, but is shown on several occasions in the series proper. He can copy the attacks of the Digimon that he's destroyed and absorbed the data of. He's done this to Chrysalimon, Infermon, Leomon, Makuramon, Taomon, Rapidmon, and Caturamon, showing the copying of Makuramon's and Leomon's most powerful attacks during episodes.

Items: - A teddy bear with an arm repaired that belonged to his Tamers.
- A card from the Digimon card game called Behemoth showing a powerful motorcycle that belongs to Beelzemon.
